New website

Hey everyone!!!

Just letting everyone know that I started up a music website at www.undergroundmusicunites.com It is more organized than this blog site and features a band locator (where you can click on a state and then a genre and see what bands are there), comp download link, album releases, featured articles (on the home page), band of the week, band album downloads (any band that wants their album up for free download can be apart of it) and album reviews. I will be adding a member button sometime so until then, add the website to your favorites and check back every day to see what new info I have added. Everyone can leave comments and suggestions on any page of the website so feel free to express yourselves and get your band noticed. I hope everyone that is a member of this blog will switch over to the website and will enjoy where it currently is and where it will go.

Take care everyone

Trevor

Album Review: Where I Stand - Where I Stand EP

Where I Stand
Where I Stand EP
Releases: 2011 (out now)

Right off the bat, I thought of The Ghost Inside with this EP (which is not necessarily a bad thing). This EP as a whole is spectacular to say the least but they aren't setting themselves away from the pack but instead are following in the footsteps of the likes of The Ghost Inside. Don't get me wrong, I'm thoroughly enjoying listening to this EP because I am a HUGE The Ghost Inside fan so I will continue to play this album. That's the thing with hardcore (when you're purely listening to it and not seeing a live performance), it's almost impossible to set yourself apart from other bands musically but instead, make an insane show!!! Unfortunately, I cannot say their live performance is insane because I have not seen them but if I ever get the chance, I will jump on that like a fat kid with cake. What Where I Stand needs to do is make a sick live music video and show their intensity and show people that they are a hardcore band musically and they also bring it to the stage as well. All in all, if you're a fan of hardcore, this EP will please every living cell in your body because they make perfect hardcore music and if anyone has seen a show, post it to youtube so the rest of the world can see and hopefully buy a ticket and support them.

Album Review: Crysis - Insane EP

Crysis - Insane EP

Crysis
Insane EP

First off, this EP shows that England is also on top of their metal!!! This 3 track EP is dirty, brutal and every metalheads dream. I think my favorite part about jamming out to this album is you can still make out the lyrics! I have listened to this EP 5 times now and I still find myself headbanging to it. If only I had someone here to mosh with ; ) I'm hoping these guys can get a US tour going on someday especially on The Summer Slaughter Tour where they belong. Crysis took the best from Lamb Of God, In Flames and The Black Dahlia Murder and created this monstrosity that I am still currently listening to. Everyone (regardless if you're in the UK or the US or anywhere around the world) needs to check these guys out because they deserve to have as much support as they can get and hopefully to get a full on World tour or at least into the US. The next step for these guys is to put out a full length and make it as brutal and melodic as this EP and distribute the hell out of it. Go like these guys and tell every radio station to play them and get the word out. Hopefully they will be hitting a town (or country) near you so help these guys out and give them all your money.

Album Review/Band Spotlight: Thieves Are Watching - When The Day Comes

Thieves Are Watching
When The Day Comes
Release Date: August 2011
http://www.facebook.com/ThievesAreWatching

First of, I have never done an album review and also a band bio so I will begin with the bio first and then do the album review.

Started back in high school by brothers Ryan and Daniel Camuto, Thieves are Watching has been a long going establishment in their lives. Joined several times by long time friend (and now permanent member) Daniel Bugallo and most recently by drummer Randy Gerana, the 'Thieves' are now starting to build their own momentum in 2011. Armed with a mix of Pop-Punk, Post-Hardcore, and Alternative influences, Thieves Are Watching is writing original music that doesn't seem to fall in the same spot twice.
As of July 2011, the Band has finished recording their debut EP “When the Day Comes” which will be available digitally and physically soon. The five track EP explores the diversity of the band’s sound, from the gut wrenching vocals on Skyscraper, to a tribute to the ballads of the 80s and 90s with the EP’s title track “When the Day Comes”. Thieves Are Watching are moving up and gaining speed so keep an eye out for them.

Now onto the album review...

I did really enjoy this album. It's not the greatest piece ever made but there are thousands of albums way worse than this. Just like their band bio, they do really mix quite a few genres together and for most, it doesn't work out very well but they somehow pull it off. The intro song Carousel, was really good. It was sudden but was a great start to an EP. The song that I kept going back to listen to was Sinking Tides. You may not know this but I'm a huge pop punk fan and this song had a really great pop punk sound. All in all, this is a good EP and I am wanting to hear what their full length will sound like. In my opinion, they need to come out with a full length and hit it hard!!! I would love to hear Rise Against meets August Burns Red. I believe they do have the capability of pulling that off and that, to me, would make such a unique and spectacular album. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this EP and I think kids would love pop punk with some edge will eat this up! I can't wait to see what the future holds for them and will be hoping to be able to review that full length when it comes time to release it.

6.5 out of 10 stars

It Came From The Sea

IT CAME FROM THE SEA
Bismarck, North Dakota
Unsigned

It Came From The Sea is a Melodic Post Hardcore band hailing from the frozen plains of North Dakota and began with Braden Hendershot (Guitar/Vocals) and Chris Vetter (Drums) The two friends met while playing together in a post rock project called Leviathan Danger, Since the first practice the two grew very close and after multiple failures with multiple bands the two comrades filled the void of their hearts with new Bass player Jamie Schlittenhart, and Caleb Seiler on Rhythm Guitar. ICFTS is a group of friends that love music and each other. Some call them drunks, others call them "good dudes" One thing is for sure about this gaggle of soft hearted, sharp tongued handsomely devilish fellows is that if you come say hi to one of them, they will most likely hug you or invite you to do karate in the garage. I am trying my best to make this bio sound cool and interesting but to be completely honest, they are just normal dudes that like playing crunchy grooves and seeing smiles on all their friends faces. They currently have a demo for sale and also a self-titled release sometime in the future.

It’s a crazy world out there with lots a crazy people and negativity is at an al-time high here in 2011. We dont care if you buy our merchandise, come to our shows, or even say nice thing about us. We simply want to remind people that this life is more than money, more than being cool in whatever social circle you belong to, more than any opinion that I or any other jag off on the internet has about it. Just love yourselves and those around you. This world is our country and this life is but a dream. Dont read between the lines cause theres nothing to be seen. We are oneICFTS

Toy Called God

TOY CALLED GOD
Brentwood, California
Unsigned

Toy Called God is a groove Metal band from Brentwood, California that mixes crushing distortion, great hooks and an amazing ability to make your head bang involuntarily. TCG was started when a former guitarist delivered a package to drummer Zack Cliff's house. The pair started jamming and occasionally adding future TCG singer Tyson Cliff to the mix. After Zack and the former guitarist posted a Craigslist ad for lead guitarists, guitarist Patrick Donovan was brought out to audition. The pair liked Patrick's playing enough to invite him back the following week, to jam with them and Tyson to see if the match was good for all four. The four then placed an ad for a bassist, and soon Dustin Phillips was added to the Toy Called God mix. After rehearsing for few months, it was decided by four members of the band that despite all that the now former guitarist had done to help start the band, they would have to relieve him of duties for the band to move forward. Now the band has 18 original songs and is poised to assault stages up and down the West Coast. Please check out Toy Called God this spring and summer and if you want to see them on Warped Tour this year, vote for them to get on the summer tour at http://www.battleofthebands.com/u/ToyCalledGod Keep your eyes peeled for a debut release and be the first in your circle to own this gem.
